JASON T. EVANS, LTG (Ret)

Lieutenant General (ret) Jason T. Evans is a transformational leader with over 40 years of distinguished service in the United States Army and executive roles in higher education, non-profit sectors, and private business. As one of only six AG officers ever selected for Lieutenant General rank in Army history and a newly inducted member of the Adjutant General's Hall of Fame (Class of 2025), Jason has spent his career mastering the art of leading people through complexity, change, and transformation.

A Legacy of Leadership
Jason’s career is defined by a relentless commitment to mission, people, and excellence. Rising through the ranks, he became the Army’s first Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9 (Installations), entrusted with an $18 billion portfolio and oversight of policy, regulatory guidance, and operations for more than 140 Army installations worldwide. As the leader of the Army’s Quality of Life Task Force, Jason improved the lives of over 1.1 million soldiers and their families by driving reforms in housing, healthcare, spouse employment, and childcare.

Key Pentagon Assignments
Jason’s distinguished Pentagon service included his role as Director of Military Personnel Management at Headquarters, Department of the Army (G-1), where he served as the Army’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources. His leadership at the Pentagon shaped policy and operations for the Army’s most complex personnel systems and guided talent management for hundreds of thousands of soldiers.

Human Capital Expert
Throughout his career, Jason has been at the forefront of human resources and talent management. He served as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, responsible for the well-being and career progression of more than 250,000 soldiers.

Civilian Leadership and Service
After retiring from the Army, Jason continued his service as Chief Operating Officer of Tennessee State University and now as CEO of Operation Stand Down Tennessee, a leading non-profit dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk veterans. His cross-sector leadership brings a unique blend of military discipline, strategic vision, and a people-first mindset to every organization he serves.

Deputy Chief of Staff, Army G-9 (Installations)
As the Army's first Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9 (Installations), Jason was entrusted with one of the most strategically important positions in the Department of Defense.

In this role, he:

  • Managed an $18 billion infrastructure portfolio
  • Oversaw policy, regulatory guidance, and operations for 140+ Army installations worldwide
  • Provided strategic military advice to the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army
